EtherCAT: What is MbxIn and MbxOut?
- MbxIn (Mailbox Input) is a EtherCAT sync manager mode for Master->Slave communication.
Typically,
SM0is used for the MbxIn function. - MbxOut (Mailbox Output) is a EtherCAT sync manager mode for Slave->Master communication.
Typically,
SM1is used for the MbxOut function.
The usage of SM0 and SM1 is specified in the EtherCAT standard ETG1000.6 V1.0.32, section 5.6.7.4.9, so it can be considered mandatory.
